International UAS Exam Autumn 2026: Full Guide for Applicants

The International UAS Exam Autumn 2026 is the remote entrance exam used by participating Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences for English-taught bachelor's degree programmes. Important autumn 2026 dates

Add these dates to your calendar and convert Finnish time carefully to your local time zone.

17 September 2026 at 15:00 Finnish time (UTC/GMT+3): deadline to attach required English language proof and identification document to your Studyinfo application.
12 October 2026: deadline to update your identification document number if needed, for example after renewing a passport.

4 November 2026: latest date for email results from manual review if your pre-identification is forwarded for review.
5 November 2026: latest date for the exam invitation email, if your pre-identification has been approved.

Finland is on standard time, UTC/GMT+2, on the November exam date. Do not use daylight saving time when converting the exam time.

Language requirements and application documents

All applicants to UAS bachelor's programmes must prove English language proficiency, including native English speakers. To be invited to the International UAS Exam and to be selected through the exam route, you must prove English language skills through an accepted international language test or previous studies.

The same language requirement also matters for certificate-based selection. In practice, this means you should treat the language proof as a mandatory application task, not as something to fix after the exam.

Submit the required proof to your Studyinfo application by 17 September 2026 at 15:00 Finnish time (UTC/GMT+3). If you miss the deadline or upload a document that is not accepted, you may not be able to continue in the International UAS Exam selection process.

Identification document requirements

You need an accepted, valid identification document for the autumn 2026 exam process. The document must be valid until 30 October 2026.

Accepted documents are:

a passport from any country, biometric or non-biometric
a biometric EU/EEA identity card

Other documents are not accepted for this process. Residence permit cards, non-biometric EU/EEA identity cards and identity cards issued outside the EU/EEA are not accepted as identification documents for the International UAS Exam.

You must also use the same passport or biometric EU/EEA ID card for Candour ID pre-identification that you listed in your Studyinfo application. Write the document number carefully, and use uppercase letters if the number includes letters. A wrong document number can prevent you from participating.

Exam sections, duration and scoring

The sections you complete depend on the programmes you apply to. You complete all required sections in one exam session. There are common sections for all applicants and field-specific sections for certain fields.

Once you open a section, you must complete it before moving on. You cannot return to that section later. The exam also includes transition time between sections.

Reasoning skills

The reasoning skills section is required for all applicants. It assesses logical reasoning and problem-solving.

Because penalty scoring is used, do not treat every question as a random guess. Practise deciding when an answer is strong enough and when leaving a question blank is safer.

English language skills

Mathematical skills

The mathematical skills section is required for fields including Technology, Business Administration and BIT, Natural Resources, Tourism and Hospitality, Seafaring, and several health, social services, sports, exercise and beauty care fields.

It covers basic calculations, percentages, first-degree equations, geometry, mathematical-logical reasoning, and interpretation of tables, graphs and diagrams.

Do not use a separate calculator, calculator app or device. The official instructions warn that using unauthorised calculator tools may cause your result to be rejected.

Advanced mathematical skills

The advanced mathematical skills section is required for Technology applicants. It includes mathematics and physics.

Topics include rational expressions, equations, plane geometry, trigonometry, basic physical phenomena, formulas, model-based reasoning, and interpreting charts, graphs and diagrams.

If you apply to Technology, prepare for both mathematical skills and advanced mathematical skills. Passing only the common sections is not enough.

Candour ID pre-identification

Before the exam, you must complete pre-identification in the Candour ID mobile application. The window is 29 October 2026 at 8:00 to 30 October 2026 at 15:00 Finnish time (UTC/GMT+2).

You can access pre-identification through login.uasexam.fi using the passport or biometric EU/EEA ID card number and PIN from your Studyinfo application. You may also receive an email invitation, but if the email does not arrive, you are still responsible for completing the process through the login page.

During pre-identification, have your original physical identification document ready. A copy or photo of the document is not enough. Use a reliable internet connection, complete the process in one session and avoid switching networks.

If you fail all three Candour ID attempts, your pre-identification can be forwarded for manual review. You will be informed by email by 4 November 2026 at the latest. If manual review is rejected, you cannot continue in the International UAS Exam selection process.

SMOWL CM monitoring and external camera setup

The autumn 2026 exam is monitored with SMOWL CM proctoring software. It can record camera images, screenshots, audio and computer activity during the exam. Monitoring is used to check that applicants complete the exam independently.

After successful pre-identification, you receive access to the personal SMOWL CM download link. Install SMOWL CM well before the exam and check that camera, microphone and screen recording permissions work. Do not wait until the exam morning.

SMOWL CM must run on a desktop or laptop computer. It cannot be installed on a tablet or phone, and it is not compatible with Chrome OS. You cannot complete the exam on a Chromebook.

You also need an external camera device, such as a phone or tablet, for the side view. The external camera view must show:

your side profile clearly enough for recognition
your full desk surface and the area around your computer
your computer from the side
the wall directly in front of your desk

Place the external camera on the left or right side of your desk, in landscape mode, about 30 cm above desk level and roughly 60 cm to 1.5 m from the computer. Incorrect placement can lead to your exam being rejected, so test the physical setup before exam day.

Exam day schedule on 6 November 2026

You can log in to the exam system from 11:00 Finnish time (UTC/GMT+2) on exam day. You must log in no later than 11:40 Finnish time.

Starting times are phased. The first applicants start at 12:00 noon, and the last applicants start by 12:15. Your personal start time appears after logging in.

Use login.uasexam.fi and the same document number and PIN from your Studyinfo application. Only applicants who successfully completed pre-identification can log in to the exam.

On exam day, you identify yourself again by taking a selfie with your computer camera. Then you continue to the exam system waiting page and complete the SMOWL monitoring setup. Monitoring starts when your personal exam time begins. No extra time is added for late camera or microphone setup.

Hardware and network requirements

Use your own desktop computer or laptop. You cannot complete the exam with a phone or tablet. A phone or tablet may only be used as the external camera device.

Current autumn 2026 requirements include:

up-to-date Chrome browser, with Microsoft Edge as a backup option if needed
Windows 11 or later, macOS 15 Sequoia or later, or Ubuntu Linux 22.04 LTS
no Chrome OS or Chromebook
working computer camera with at least 640 x 640 resolution
working microphone

browser extensions disabled if they may interfere with the exam

The applicant is responsible for the computer, internet connection and power supply. If your equipment fails, the universities of applied sciences are not responsible for the problem.

Rules that can get your exam rejected

Remote monitoring means your room, computer activity and devices matter. Before the exam starts, clear your desk and close everything unrelated to the exam.

Avoid these mistakes:

another person visible in the room or camera view
messaging, calls, video calls or remote desktop software
AI tools, extra browser tabs, websites or applications
additional monitors or TV screens visible in the camera view, even if disconnected
headphones, earbuds, earplugs, smart glasses or smart devices
phones or tablets used for anything other than the required external camera
leaving your seat after your exam time has started
recording, copying or sharing exam content

You may take notes on paper, but otherwise use only the exam system and allowed equipment. After the exam, monitoring data is reviewed, and results can be dismissed if guideline violations are detected.

Results and score service

Final student selection is based on the total score from the exam sections required by your study programme. You must meet programme-specific eligibility criteria and pass every required section.

Results are published in Studyinfo by 19 November 2026 at the latest. You may also be admitted from the waiting list by 10 December 2026 at the latest. Your International UAS Exam score is valid only for this application round.

The questions and correct answers are not published. The Entrance Exam Score Service lets you view section scores, and the current autumn 2026 instructions say scores can be viewed there until 6 January 2027.

How to prepare for the International UAS Exam Autumn 2026

Because there are no advance materials, preparation should focus on the skills the exam actually measures.

For reasoning skills, practise pattern recognition, logical sequences, deduction and time pressure. Review your mistakes and learn which question types cost you the most time.

For English language skills, practise reading dense passages quickly. Focus on vocabulary in context, paragraph relationships, inference and eliminating answer choices.

For mathematical skills, build fluency in percentages, equations, geometry, table interpretation and graph interpretation. For Technology applicants, add advanced algebra, trigonometry and basic physics formulas.

For remote exam readiness, prepare your setup as carefully as your study plan. Test your browser, camera, microphone, external camera angle, desk layout and internet connection before exam week. A strong applicant can still lose the opportunity if identification, SMOWL CM or camera placement fails.
