International UAS Exam Autumn 2025: Final Tips and What to Expect on Exam Day

GeneralNovember 6, 2025

The International UAS Exam is almost here! Learn what happens on exam day, how the process works step-by-step, and practical tips to stay calm and ready.

International UAS Exam 2025: Final Tips and What to Expect on Exam Day

The International UAS Exam Autumn 2025 takes place on Monday, 10 November 2025, starting at 12:00 Finnish time (UTC+2). For thousands of international applicants to Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences (UAS), this is the key step toward admission.

If you are sitting the exam this week, here’s what to expect, how to prepare for the big day, and what happens once it’s over.

Exam schedule and timing

The online exam begins at 12:00 Finnish time, but you must be ready much earlier.

  • Log in around 11:00-11:10. This gives you enough time to check your internet connection, audio, and camera setup.
  • Set up SMOWL monitoring. You will use two cameras – your main webcam and a second device (usually a smartphone) to monitor the environment. Follow the on-screen instructions carefully.
  • Wait for your exam start time. Each candidate is assigned an exact start time (for example, 12:05). Stay on the exam page until it opens automatically.
  • Choose your first section. You can start from any section of your exam (for example, reasoning or English). Once you begin a section, you must complete it before moving on – returning is not possible.
  • Stay aware of the timer. Each section has its own fixed duration, and when time runs out, the system automatically saves your latest answers.
  • After finishing all sections, you can disconnect from SMOWL, close the session, and relax – you’ve done it!

What the exam feels like from a student’s perspective

Students describe the International UAS Exam as fast-paced, structured and fair. Each section opens in its own window with a visible countdown timer. You can use the on-screen calculator for mathematical sections, and you’ll see progress indicators showing how many questions are left.

The environment is strict but stable – once your setup is approved, you can focus fully on solving tasks. Make sure your phone is on silent (except for monitoring), notifications are off, and your room is quiet.

Expect:

  • Reasoning skills: Logical patterns, relationships, and problem solving
  • English skills: Reading comprehension, vocabulary, and text interpretation
  • Field-specific sections: Mathematics, physics, or ethical and emotional intelligence questions depending on your chosen programmes

Many students say time management is the hardest part, so pacing yourself is crucial.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Starting late: Logging in too close to the start time may cause stress or technical issues.
  • Ignoring instructions: Read every section guideline – some tasks include penalty points for wrong answers.
  • Over-guessing: Since you can skip questions, avoid random guessing where penalties apply.
  • Forgetting your ID: Have your passport or ID card ready for SMOWL verification.
  • Technical multitasking: Don’t open extra tabs or applications; the monitoring software will detect it.

After the exam – what happens next

Once you’ve completed all sections and disconnected from SMOWL, your job is done. The system will automatically save and submit your answers.

Now it’s time to wait. The Autumn 2025 results will be published by 20 November 2025 at the latest, much sooner than in the Spring round. You will receive an email if you are offered admission, and your scores will also appear in Studyinfo (My Studyinfo) if you have Finnish strong authentication.

If you are not immediately accepted, you may still be placed on a waiting list – offers from that list can be made until 8 December 2025.
